    Talking New Savage 10

Wife was nice enough to buy me a brand new Savage 10 for Valentine's Day. I'm going to mount this Nikon 4-16x42 scope I've got from an old rifle on it later today, then finally take it to the range and see which loads it likes.

Depending on how far you want to shoot the rifle...I'd say 168gr for up to 600 yards...beyond 600 yards, I'd recommend 175/178gr...I'm partial to 178gr Hornady Amax.

I have a FCP-K 24" fluted LE series in .308. Fantastic rifle. Especially with hand loads that it likes. So far it's been 168 SMKs to 200.

I got the scope mounted and bought a few boxes of different weight of factory loads (150, 168, 175, and 180) to try out. I didn't get a chance to take it over to the range yesterday since I had some car maintenance that took longer than I expected.

I bought one used many years ago from someone who wanted to 'move up' to a Remington 700 Police Sniper model. We met up at the range about a year later , and the Savage and me were shooting groups that made him cry.

I added a Bell & Carlson stock and Timney trigger. With good match-grade ammo or good handloads , it'll put 5 in a 1in target square all day long.

    I don't speak English , I talk American!

That looks nice. I plan to see what this one will do before I replace the stock or trigger.
