    Default Milliradian Scope Options?

    Title ^

It seems like these are increasingly hard to find. I have Vortex Viper PST with the EBR-1 reticle on a couple rifles in differing magnifications. I'm struggling to find other options that are mil-based. All of the Leupold reticles use MOA, including those that are BDC.

The only other manufacturer I've found is Nightforce. What am I missing?

You aren't looking very hard if you cannot find optics that offers MILS or your search-fu sux as there are plenty of companies that offer MILS.

    Burris
    Bushnell
    NF
    US Optics
    SWFA
    Vortex
    Schmidt & Bender
    Steiner
    Valdada IOR
    Meopta

To name a few....there's more, but I feel that you need to quit being so lazy and learn to use the internet.

Aubie is right. It seems like there's more options now than there ever has been in the past. I also don't quite understand what makes you think that Leupold doesn't make a mil reticle, and that they're all MOA. Leupold's TMR literally has mil's in it's name, Tactical Milling Reticle. Anyway, there's lots of options and now you have some, best of luck.

Are you looking for milrad scopes in general (for bird-watching and such) or for some rifle in particular? A good rule of thumb is that the scope shouldn't cost more than the rifle. Unless it's your day job, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to put $3,000 optics on a $1500 rifle.

Ummm, you didn't mention the rifle you had in mind for the scope...

So, you're familiar with Vortex - what do you think is wrong with them?

Is it a scope mounting issue?

Or, do you have so many Vortex scopes on rifles that you're looking for something that doesn't break the bank on the next five rifles waiting to be scoped?

To make any serious scope more useful, pair it with a quality QD mount such as LaRue, GG&G, Samson, or Bobro.

I think what the OP means is, "It seems like these are increasingly hard to find in the sub $400 price range. I have Vortex Viper PST with the EBR-1 reticle on a couple rifles in differing magnifications. I'm struggling to find other options that are mil-based that fit my unrealistically low budget. All of the Leupold reticles use MOA, including those that are BDC, except the the Mk6, but they are almost $2900."

Lol really? I could barely give my La Rue crap away to the witting. Do you know what's quicker than having a LaRue QD Mount? Not having to re-verify zero every time you remove it. It was easier to move my Bobro mounts.

The samsom mounts don't seem to be too bad...I fumbled with them at SHOT. GG&G is kind 'meh' to me and I don't know if I could ever bring myself to put anything GG&G on anything I'd call 'serious'.

    There are only three companies I look at for serious scope mounts they are - all of which are NOT QD;
    Badger Ordnance
    Spuhr
    Geissele Automatics.

Thats been a great scope on a 22 I have. I wouldnt trust it on a hunting or dayjob rifle, but for plinking on a 22 and learning mil/mil its been good.

Talk about an off the wall rule of thumb? Who says a quality optic shouldn't be more than the rifle?
