Cool LCR 357 - first revolver

Damn I love this thing. The "brutal" factory .357 magnum loads weren't so bad. Loaded a bunch of 158 gr. 38 special and they shot great. Easy to carry in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar pancake holster.

Cool, I still have a soft spot for wheel guns.

There is a big difference between 357 and 38 special in this little guy. Nice accurate wheel gun.

    Yeah, 38 feels like a 22 after 5 quick 357 shots.

.357's are a little "snappy" in them. Still controllable though, especially considering how light weight they are. I carry golden sabers in mine. Fits in my coat pocket with a desantis nemisis perfectly for trips to the store and in my bibs pocket for doing farm work.

I just picked one up in December and I think it'll get a lot of use this summer. Good choice imo.

My wife is looking at one of these for conceal carry. She currently has an SP-101 in 357 and shoots 38 in it and really enjoys it. How hard is the recoil with the 357 in the LCR?

I love revolvers and recently purchased a S & W 686 plus with a three inch barrel and a couple of speed loaders. I figure twenty one rounds of 158 grain .357 magnum cartridges should stop most threats.

A few years ago I purchased a semi automatic to see how they operate. My primary carry gun will always be a revolver

    Gentlemen,

Please take my word for it, I am not writing this to bust anyone's balls. Rather, after 4+ decades of shooting and reloading, there are still things to learn.

I have a 40 year old S&W model 19 and a GP100 my son got me for my 50th birthday 9 yrs ago. Neither has ever had a .38 chambered.

Why buy a .357 and then buy or reload .38s for it?

My old joints are getting a little recoil sensitive so I just back off a bit.

If you want to shoot mouse fart loads all day, why not just get the .38 to begin with. Or.........load lighter .357s?

What am I missing?? Again, not trying to bust balls.

I guess for me its because I have a couple ammo cans of reloaded lead .38's. Easier to just grab a bag of them and go to the range.......My .357 loads are all high velocity using jacketed bullets. .357 brass is also harder to get and more expensive.

The only potential negative I have heard is the issued of .38 specials leaving a lead ring in the cylinder so a .357 wouldn't chamber. Never happened to me.

I ordered 1000 once fired 357 brass for $55, got 750 CMJFN bullets from my shop and 100 Hornady 158 gr JHP. My thinking is in line with Fritz1919. I have a few years left to abuse my body. Might as well have fun.
