    Question 9x18 Makarov Recommendations

So we have The CZ-82, the Radom P-64 and P-83, the Makarov PM (Russian, Bulgarian, East German, etc.), and the Hungarian FEG

Help me decide! Personal experiences, factoids, history. I've been exhausting myself doing research. What say you?!

I don't have all of them, but do have the CZ-82, Makarov PM ( East German and a Bulgarian ) and all are amazing guns. If I had to choose only one to keep, it would probably be the East German Makarov PM. All have great quality, reliability and incredibly accurate but I think the EG Mak is the best all around. I've never been a big fan of the FEG - don't like the aesthetics as much - same for the P's.

There is only one Makarov -- PM. Accept no substitutes.

All others are merely pistols coincidentally chambered for the 9mm Mak cartridge

I have a CZ 82. Don't own a mak, yet, but I've shot a couple. Either one I'd be happy with.

Stay the hell away from the FEG. With the alloy frame it hurts like hell to shoot. I have one. Barely finished 1 mag. Never shot it since.

I have four PM Makarovs. Two Bulgies, an EG, and a Russian. Great pistols. However, the Polish P-83 is every bit as good or better than the PM Makarov.

I have a Russian made Makarov. It is a marvelous gun. I have shot cases worth of ammo through it...never an FTF.

The P-83 is indeed a well made pistol. The two that I once owned functioned 100%, but I could not be as accurate with them as I am with the PMs I have. The PMs' trigger pull was "better" suited to me for accurate shooting.
