    Default Iron City Armory?

I bought a gun on GunBroker and needed to find an FFL to receive it for me. GunBroker listed Iron City Armory as having a $30 fee. I called to check and, apparently, they are back in the FFL business. I asked about the fee and if they extended a discount to those of us who were foolish enough to buy memberships. Nope. The guy then tells me, "Ummm, that's for person to person transfers here in the store. For FFL to FFL transfers, we charge $60." WTF? "That's because we have to deal with shipping 'n stuff." WTF? It's being shipped there. "That's what it is." I started to say, "That's outrageous . . ." but the line went dead.

I've seen that many FFLs charge more for a person-to-person transfer because of "extra background checks." What extra background checks? However, to charge more for receiving a gun from an FFL? Un-boh-lievable.

I suspect they won't be in the FFL business for long.

I fucking TOLD you guys that the "other owners" were likely cut from the same mold as the dickhead owner in the other thread.
"Birds of a feather" and all that...

They are trying to make it as uncomfortable as possible when buying off the internet that way you just buy from them. Unfortunately they forget about the huge used and collectable market something most gun shops don't deal in or have to compete with. If making $30.00 for 15 minutes of work isn't worth their time then I'm sure someone else out there is willing to take his place.

Oh, I understand their rationale. As you said, there is the used and collectible market plus, one of the most important things in retail is to get feet through the door. While I'm there to pick up my GunBroker deal, I'd probably grab a couple boxes of ammo and look at what they have in the counter.

Fortunately, there are FFLs who charge much less. I figured that since I have a "membership" at ICA, I'd give them the business.

They also forget it is more likely to make people say, "fuck you!" than it is, "Oh, OK, well, in that case, I'll just buy from you."
