9mm 1911
So I have been looking at picking up another 9mm 1911 compact for carry. I have two that I really like. One pretty much tried and true - the other a love 'em or hate 'em kind of gun imo.. Looking for thoughts and if anyone owns the first - not too many around ......
First is the Iver Johnson Thrasher Polished Deluxe. I've always just liked the look of this pistol.
$606
1.9 lbs
3.12" barrel
8+1 capacity
Then the tried and true more classic. Springfield Range Officer Champion.
$737
1.97 lbs
4.0" barrel
9+1 capacity

Did you look into the Springfield EMP at all? Just curious since you are considering the Range Officer.

DW ECO is badass...just saying.
I like the look of the Iver Johnson though.
Who builds it?
Is it Philippino?

Re: 9mm 1911
Real men can place their shots and don't need to compensate with larger caliber . Ok, best I could come up with on short notice. I have a few 45 1911's but only two in 9mm, and neither are ideal for carry ( one older llama and one heavy RIA 22 tcm/9 combo ), so I just want a nicer one for carry.

Re: 9mm 1911
I have the RO Champion in .45. Shoots great. Trigger is about 4lbs right out of the box. Only thing I don't like is the captured recoil spring. Light loads aren't locking the slide back. And can't get a lighter spring. Although the slide is cut for a bushing. So if you can get a fully ramped bushing barrel as a replacement for the bull, then it would be possible to drop in a commander spring and guide rod.

Re: 9mm 1911
I'm not the biggest 1911 fan, they are pretty but not much more. The safety on a carry gun is not my preference and the weight they bring I can carry my glock 17 and have double the capacity and reliability. However I like the EMP...a lot, but still wouldn't carry it for previous reason mentioned so out of the 2 you listed I like the SA.
I did just pick up a shield 9mm and am pleased with the feel of it so that will be carried on a regular basis.
If you're specifically looking for a 1911 to carry that's cool but if you are looking for a mid capacity carry gun that's all metal my preference is CZ PCR or the all steel P01.

Re: 9mm 1911
I think you should go with something in commander size. 1911's seem pretty easy to carry and if you're looking at something with a full size grip, but don't want the full size barrel commander length looks ideal in an alloy frame. I've got a Smith Wesson 1911 e2 series with an alloy frame and it carries pretty well. Not a huge 1911 fan though so I stick to my P320c since I prefer 9mm, and a lighter/smaller handgun.

I didn't know you could get a 9mm 1911 for that price. Going to have to give this serious consideration
