Default Advice on listing something on ebay

So I stumbled upon this link the other day and put it on my watch list. It's a Baywatch cast/crew jacket. I guess you could call it a "rare" item. I was able to obtain one a few years ago. It's been up in my closet since then. I was a fan of the show and wore it a few times to parties etc. People that knew the show, got a kick out of it.

So the question I have is: Should I list it? Should I play it like the stock market? They say sell high buy low lol. Only question is....will it go any higher or in 10 years will anyone even give a shit? The jacket itself is cheap. I guess it's just the fact that it's the same one from the show & that gets people to jump on it.

So what should I do? Main concern is those damn ebay fees. They really kill the income.

    Here's the link:

You should look on ebay first and see if anyone else has that or something like that listed. Then see how THEY have it listed, if it has bids, etc.

Woops whole point of making this post was because of this listing.

Well you could always look around for a baywatch forum and see if there are any nuts out there that are still into it who'd like to have it. You'd have to be mindful of their forum rules about looking to sell something like that though. I don't know what you paid for it so I don't know if that price is higher or lower then what you paid for it but that sure looks like a lot for a jacket as far as I'm concerned.

The price it went for is nearly 6 times the price I paid for it.

Well that's quite the profit margin. I am thinking now would be the time to sell rather then later but I guess I see what you're saying...you'll be kicking yourself in the ass if the value goes up even more in another ten years. Be careful about looking at things like that though. If it were me I'd sell now because I don't think the show was THAAAAT great that future gens are going to be that into it and our gens are probably not going to be looking for jackets like this 10 years from now but that's just me. I am not into collecting stuff so maybe I don't understand how it works. it just looks like RIGHT NOW there is a strong interest so....

I might wait for a while. They are bound to be making a baywatch movie. Then the prices on the collectibles should go up even more. It depends on if you need the bucks.

    I would like to add:

Check "completed listings" for successful auctions that resulted in a sale. Auctions that have excessive opening bids often don't result in a sale, making the data moot.

Your call. Don't be afraid to make a profit...maybe there'll be another Baywatch, maybe not. The certainty of your profit is now, not later.

I have a Barnett Commando I'll be auctioning soon now that good ones are pulling down $300-$500.
