    Default Scarcity of AR parts?

I enjoy building/enhancing/customizing AR type firearms. I work on each piece with patience and precision - never in a rush. I usually buy parts as I need/want them. Is it my perceived and paranoid disgust or am I noticing that AR components are becoming scarce since Obozo went on his anti-gun rant following the San Bernadino, CA radical Islamic terrorist attack in December? ......Or are lots of folks, like me, passing the dark winter casually building and tinkering with their firearms? Has anyone found parts difficult to obtain? Thanks.

From what I've seen, the market is still flooded. I noticed lowers were OOS for a week or two there at a few places but that is it.

Parts certainly did go out of stock many many places. I know - I was looking.
    Mainly lower priced stuff though.

Two reasons off the top of my head:

    (a) Christmas "deals" purchasing. Best time to save is when they are all offering sales and free shipping.
I'm sure a LOT of inventory was moved.

    (b) Mini-panic.
Any time there's a shooting it leads to fears of "what if", and before those thoughts even solidify in our minds the politicians start shouting for more restrictions which then prompts the panic buying.

Combine the two (because they both occurred at roughly the same time) and you get what we see now. "OUT OF STOCK".
I think that the only reason we DO see any stuff in stock is because vendors "stocked up" for Christmas sales.

Anyone who says that you are crazy has not recently been sourcing parts.

Exactly what I said. Lower priced stuff that the commoners buy is gone in many instances.

Obviously the low priced items will always sell first, but when there's a panic on, it also sells FAST because not only are the people struggling to afford it buying it up, but those who weren't really looking also say, "well fuck, I may as well grab a handful of cheap lower parts kits to keep on hand."

LPKs are on ARF EE at good prices among just about anything else.

Lowers/BCGs via palmetto, (they have increased their prices slightly)

Rainier just had uppers for $50 the other day

Phase5supply has FN contract Colt bolts for $40 shipped on gunbroker and Colt SOCOM 14.5 barrels for $189

Carriers at sons of liberty gun works in Texas if you need to part for $60

PSA, ballistic adv., Primary arms etc. has plenty of barrels for good prices

ALG/Geissele or PA have great rails in stock

Scarcity was after Newtown. This isn't even close.

However, I'd suggest that after about April or May, it's going to be silly season again.

Of course it's not even close.

Still, a lot of places are out of a lot of stock.

I assume many are geniuses like myself and buying now before things go full-retard again.

Honestly I saw stock go down a bit after black friday and christmas sales. A lot of places bled off inventory. I am sure a lot of people went buying because of the last batch of stoopid EOs but I feel the holidays had more of an impact on stock than the EOs.
