Default here's an animal question for cops or lawyers out there....

ok.. so one night i get pulled over for my exhuast on my car. (turbo charged no muffler, no resinator so it's loud) when the officer comes to my car he tries to tell me that my dog sitting in the back seat is illegal...! EVERYONE i know transports their dog this way. "How SHOULD i be transporting him officer?" i respond. He tells me my 120 lb american bull dog has to be in a cage????

is this true? can i get a ticket for this????

that's a load of crap...i've driven by state police, local cops, and sheriffs with a pit bull in the front seat, and back seat; the most ive ever gotten was a nod. only in one case, where i was pulled over for an expired inspection, did a cop ever voice anything over my dog. he just wanted me to keep him at bay for his own protection. never said anything about "caged transport."

i agree with you... i've had the same experiences.. but ONE New Castle cop, and his buddy, who just wanted to be asshats decided to tell me that it was illegal. so i'm wondering if there is an actual LAW stating you have to have your dog in a cage while transporting them.

I've never had a problem with an LEO and a few have came up to me to pet the doggie. While he is in the car or about to get in. And a few have seen it in the car riding. Most of em seem to like dopey Dobies.

Maybe he had a bad day or needed and ego boost so he picked on ya.
Or he likes NA cars better than FI cars. j/k

I did find this PA law, but could not find the regulations they speak of.

    § 459-213. Transportation of dogs

It shall be unlawful for any dog required to be licensed as hereinbefore provided, to be transported for any purpose without a current license tag firmly attached to a collar or harness securely fastened to the dog except when a dog is being transported for law enforcement or humane purposes. All vehicles being used to transport dogs are subject to inspection and must meet requirements for such transportation through regulations as promulgated by the secretary.

yeah he had his license on, AND it was a day where we were going like three blocks to the park to go swim, (the park has a stream that is JUST deep enough to where he has to swim to get around in it.) so i left his leash on him; normally i take it off when he gets in the car.

I wish my guy could swim. His dumb ass almost drowned (sp just doesn't look right) when getting into a pool. He sank like a rock. I had to lift him out of the water and got scratched to all hell by him flailing around.

If your dog has a lifetime license do you still need it attached to his colLar?

Yes you need the license attached on the collar:
Look almost at the bottom of the page.

    http://www.agriculture.state.pa.us/a...w.asp?q=126801

"a dog which has been issued a lifetime license shall be required to wear a license tag"

Damn I guess I have to dig it out now. He's big and scary looking so I wouldn't be surprised if someone trys to be a problem. Plus when he poops on walks we get nasty looks cause they are monstorous. Even though we pick it up we still get dirty looks.
