Default So I found out why..

A lot of PA residents can't stand people from NY and NJ. I was in Milford this morning dropping off my LTCF packet and a few other documents to make myself official. I stopped at a barbershop and got my haircut then went into some bagel place on Broad St. I don't remember the name but I walked in and ordered some food. I was getting a coffee when I saw some lady chew out the kid behind the counter. I didn't eavesdrop or anything but she was berating this kid over something that happened before I came in. He remained very polite and tactful, also apologizing for whatever it was that happened. Instead of calming down, because the kid clearly apologized and felt embarrassed, she kept going at him. She was definitely one of the "well to do" types and after she left, everyone just stared at each other and shook their heads.

I grew up in the pine barrens in NJ but spent a lot of time with my hillbilly family in rural Texas. You wouldn't even be able to tell I am a native NJ resident if you saw me. Still, PA is different from both in some ways and I make sure to respect everyone(similar to pineys but nicer), the way of life here(which is the same as were I grew up), and also not make everyone cater to me. This lady was a disgusting degenerate from northern NJ(by the looks, attitude, mannerisms and accent) and she was only concerned about herself, her fat ***, and her stupid crossover/suv whatever the hell it is. Not knocking on people from these areas that behave the right way but honestly what did she expect when she moved to PA? You can see how much natives respect myself and the fiance because we are polite, friendly and we don't have an aneurysm anytime we are "inconvenienced". One lady at the DMV in Stroudsburg said we were the types of people she wants in PA

Such entitlement to move to another state and be such a degenerate. If you had a problem just pull the kid aside and say something quietly. More than likely it was a misunderstanding but honestly, it seems like she lost her mind over something that the rest of us would overlook.

Had to get this off my chest. Sorry if there are more threads like this but I was just disgusted by her entire existence. I guess her parents didn't hit her growing up, because she needs a German suplex to fix that attitude of hers.

    Thanks for listening. Rant over.

I love the ones who move here and go on and on how their home state was so much better. the food is better the water is better the housing and roads are better. If Pa. sucks so hard go back home.

Having grown up in NJ myself in an area that was horses, cows, and corn. And having come from a family that has lived there since the 1600's.
I feel obligated to say the following.

You are confusing true New Jerseyans with first, second and, third generation transplanted New Yorkers. (New Yorkers from the five boroughs and Long Island; not from upstate NY).
True New Jerseyans are nothing like that bitch you witnessed.

With any person who claims to come from NJ but behaves like an asshole and has a socialistic mentality.
If you have a conversation with them. You will most likely learn that are only a generation or two removed from NY City.
City living tends to make people like that.

There are some polite, well behaved, and freedom minded New Yorkers.
    But they are rare.

Aaaaahhh, stop trying to get on our good side, Jersey boy!

Just kidding. Welcome to the area. Anyone who is willing to blend in once the get here is more than welcome.

I do believe that ett has a good point that I've noticed a long time ago. Folks that live in The City just develop differently when it comes to behavior and cultural norms. Having lived in large cities a few times, I can totally understand why people get like that. I just don't understand how they don't chill out once they move. Too ingrained I suppose.

If you think this area is nice and relaxed, you should move west of State College. Total mid-western vibe going on out that way. Eastern PA is high strung.

When my wife and I got married in Jamiaca we got to see one of the bartenders chew out 2 "kids" from NY. We were sitting at our favorite bar at the resort. The bartenders all knew us and even though they were serving us, we were polite and respectful. No need to be rude and obnoxious. A few seats away 2 guys from NY (you could tell), first day at the resort and under 21 (18 to drink), were starting to act all high and mighty because they felt they deserved to be treated as kings and the servers should bow down to their masters (just a wee bit of hyperbole for effect).

Well, we watched the bartenders go over to them and chew their asses out for being rude and obnoxious. The 2 were dumbfounded and left. I tipped the bartender $10 and said that if they complain to management that my wife and I would back up the story of the bartender. Needless to say, the second my drink was empty, another one was waiting for me!

I will only be in PA for a few years. Heading back down to Texas probably for good but I do enjoy it here.
I spent some time in PA as a kid. I have no idea why my family ended up in NJ. Old man's family came over from Germany and fought at Gettysburg and they lived in PA up until my grandfather was born. Just think, I could have grown up here instead of there.

You are right on the mark.

I grew up in a fairly rural area in Central Jersey, that was ruined by the mass exodus of asshole Noo Yawkiz in the 80's. I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of that sad excuse for a state.

I can't stand rude cockey city "people".
