Polls are a joke because they are too easily manipulated. The group setting up the poll can steer the results in any direction they want be creatively wording the questions or offering answer options that fit a specific agenda.

When I was in college I had to take a political science class. One of our projects was to conduct 2 phone polls on the same subject but with differing answer options. The results clearly proved you can make the poll produce the outcome you desire.

Another example... The Army encourages us to conduct Command Climate Surveys. The catch is the commander selects the topics that will be questioned. If the commander knows morale is low he/she can non select morale as a topic. In turn, if you think the quality of training is viewed as very high you select it and thump your chest when you present the results to your supervisors.

I've been surprised the polls haven't been going their way though. But they still say they have the majority, most want gun control or like my local tv news, show their poll with no mention of the national poll or state poll

Can't say results of polls have no affect on me. When Obama was re-elected I didn't change my mind about him one iota, but it sure dropped my faith in people a notch or two.

I felt the same way. I was stunned he won a second term. It told me a lot about where our country has gone.
