$750? You have gold. Thee months ago I sold mine on GB for $1150.00 and it sold in two or three hours.

I would think that any common quality Smith without a lock would get $750 easy- Sold a 686 no lock for $725 it sold in a day. Sold a 629 Classic with a lock for $800 from this site in a day. A less common Smith like the one you just got with no lock is worth more. I am glad you got the gun you want and I am thinking you got it at a great price. Looks like fimore's post confirms this. Cool looking revolver. Cool concept of a 44 Special for conceal carry.

I found my grail S&W about a year ago. it's a Model 13-2, .357 Magnum, pinned and recessed, 3 inch. I'd been seeking one for years at shows but found this one on Gun Broker. I wound up paying a reasonable retail for it after all was said and done. I didn't mind that too much as I wasn't buying it for the shop but for myself. It came in nicer than the listing photos showed and it shoots really well. My LEOSA qualification scores with it run in the 280s. Much better than my old coot corrected vision eyes should be shooting. The only modifications I added were a pair of S&W round butt extended length "banana" stocks and I painted the front sight with some bright red paint.

Probably not an impressive "grail gun" but I searched nearly half a year to find the one I just had to have. It's not as rare, old or valuable as others in the thread but it's the one I wanted.

    Smith 4006. She's a looker.

Gasp, but it's not a revolver!

Just found the original receipt for my 696. Paid $365 brand new back in 1997. Sold it for $750 a few years later.

My current S&W 'Grail Gun' is a factory nickeled 3in Model 19. I've only seen 2.

    I know this is a grail gun for many S&W collectors. A 1940 K-22 Masterpiece 2nd model , aka , K-22/40. Only 1067 made.

Keep my 696 locked up tight!
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I like those grips. Are they original to the revolver?
