Default Slimmest AR Handguard You've Held?

My wife has small hands and wants something she can wrap her hands around easily. The normal handguard that came on our AR doesn't appeal to either of us. I'm thinking Magpul MOE. I don't really want an aluminum rail because I don't intend to put anything on it. Drop in fit only, no free float. Any other suggestions?

My stag arms, it's their brand, it's slim, sort of rounded triangular shape with scallops on the bottom corners. Feels better than any others I've held.

Probably Magpul SL line since you don't want aluminum.
Doesn't fit your requirments, but i would say Noveske NSR are probably the most slim.

I have both the standard Magpul MOE and the SL handguards. Measured at the center of the handguard the SL is 1.8" wide and the standard MOE is 2.140" wide. The circumference of both handguards are pretty close, I'd say the circumference is around 1/2" less on the SL. Just keep in mind the SL ONLY works with round endcaps. The B5 Systems Handguard is pretty slim but I never used one. It does look thinner than the Magpul SL but looks can be deceiving. You can get thinner handguards/rails than all of them but you have to go with a free float aluminum rail.

You can get drop in aluminum rails but they are not much thinner than plastic handguards. http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/...tegory_ID=1299

Thank you! B5 is the one. I had never heard of it so I did a youtube search and it is much slimmer than the Magpul MOE. I also like the look of it. Not as busy looking as the Magpul or AB Arms handguards.

Is it true what they say about "small hands"...?

+1 on the UTG Pro rails. I have the keymod one on one of my rifles, simply because the keymod one weighs less.

I too don't generally mount stuff on my guns, with the exception of an AFG on my .300 pistol upper, because it came with a quad rail and I found the AFG to be more comfortable than just putting on rail covers.

Yeah, I was about to suggest looking into one but see that it was already mentioned.

I was thinking of getting one for the same reason, but wife is OK with the standard handguard, so I didn't get it.
I'm not wild about the seam running down the side (looks cheesy), but sometimes function is more important than form.
AIM has them for $28 and shipped FREE.
    I haven't priced them elsewhere.

The B5 is the slimmest standard hand guard your going to get without going over to a free float system. I have one of my midlegnth rifles set up with a set and like it a lot. It's well made and fits snugly with no play.
