Lightbulb Peach Bottom Atomic Power Plant?

I'll be visiting there tomorrow. I suspect there's a No CC Policy at the Complex and they do not allow Firearms to be in one's vehicle, right or wrong?

I`ve been in Berwick, , Limerick, Indian Point, Salem, Oyster Creek and Three Mile Island plus a couple I can`t remember.. In every case they did a full vehicle search in a secured area. In a gate close behind you with a closed gate ahead. Including undercarriage. All lighters, matches, aerosols, firearms and any type of threatening objects were removed and put in secure locked storage. In the secure area a guard rode with me and when I left my vehicle he got the keys. He even went to the john with me.
This is only if you are entering a secure area. This was pre 911.

From Exbiker's commentary, it seems likely that the place is locked down tighter than a military base. If you have a firearm on you or in your vehicle when you get there, I'd advise that you disclose it before you get into trouble.

That sounds similar to taking a vehicle into a prison. Actually more stringent now that I think about.

Somewhere along the line somebody told me there is a federal law regarding weapons near nuke facilities even if inactive. Never found a confirmation of it though.

Any time I go into a secure facility, prisons, I have to be particular about what I take. I am allowed to take solvents but they get logged in as being there and I'm escorted everywhere I go as well.

I'm a union carpenter and have been to many Power plants also. You shouldn't even handle any type of gunpowder or explosives before you go to one because they have "sniffers". The sniffers blow air on you and then monitor the air. If you pumped gas or held any type of explosives it will register; believe me. I've been stopped a hundred times in them. Then you go through metal detectors, you and all your belongings. And are subject to search.

yeah... NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) is very stringent about firearms on the property. My father worked at Berwick for years. on 9/11/01, he said they pulled out some BIG guns, all fully auto (mp5's, SAW's, lots o good stuff) and set up a perimeter like he hasnt seen since he was in the military.
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?

If you DO carry, do they have a place you can safely store or it, like a courthouse does? Or do you just not bring it, period?

Probably wise not to even carry it.

Do not take your firearm onto the power plant property.

In post this 9/11 world.... Nuclear power plants are highly protected. I used to do some work over at the Limerick Generating Station. Don't even think about it. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if one of their computer bot things didn't pick up this forum thread already and flag it for scruitiny.

I delivered food to the Salem nuke plant and it was pretty interesting while in the secured area. Searched me, my vehicle interior and exterior then drove to another checkpoint (I guess that's what it's called), and left my vehicle to go inside a buliding. Went through a metal detector and wait for an escort. They took cameras from my tractor (gave them back before I left). They were pretty nice, but wouldn't dream of doing something they didn't like. If I remember right, they carried Sig pistols and M4 type with the reflex sight. This was last October.
