Shooting at Walmart in East Stroudsburg - BREAKING!

EAST STROUDSBURG — State and local law enforcement officials are at Walmart in East Stroudsburg.

Authorities told us a man walked into the store with an assault style weapon and several handguns around 10:15 p.m.

One person was shot. Ambulances were called to the scene.

Officials said there is no longer a threat, but it is very early in the investigation.

There is no word if any customers or employees were hurt.

From the looks of one of the news reports, the guy doing the shooting was the guy that was shot.

Licensed carrier prevents mass murder? Maybe.

Guy hoping to die by cop and maybe getting his wish? Also maybe.

TL;DR

The 20-year-old white male entered the Walmart, on Lincoln Avenue, at 10:11 p.m. and began threatening customers and pointing a gun at them, witnesses told state police.
Stroud Area Regional Police arrived minutes later and ordered the man to drop his weapons. After he refused, SARP officers fired at the man, striking him in the upper chest. Police then did first aid on the man until EMS responded and took him to Pocono Medical Center where Monroe County Coroner Robert Allen pronounced him dead.

"He was walking away from us down the aisle holding the gun to his head. He threw a backpack he was carrying to the side. Then he got to the end of the aisle, he turned right and pointed the gun, like around the corner. I heard a click, like a misfire or a BB gun go off," Felz said.
At that point, heavily armed officers from the Stroud Area Regional Police "carrying shotguns with shells across their chests," rushed into the store while everyone else rushed out, the witness said. Police evacuated people from the store.

At least three shots were fired inside the store after police arrived. The suspect was declared deceased at a nearby hospital.

Well, it sounds like he got what he wanted, for whatever reason. Could be mental illness that caused this, or he might have wanted to die but was unable to do the deed himself, so he made the cops do it. Or it could be something else.

WNEP emphasized that the guy was carrying a gun. No mention of the machete . Quote from Pocono article:
"Felz turned to look and saw a man with a black handgun in his left hand and a machete in his right walking down the last aisle"

I watched WNEP report this at two separate times and never once did they mention the perp had a machete. Only emphasizing on the handgun. Another antigun reporter ? Probably.

Probably got a look at a 400 lb Walmart shopper in her skinny jeans and couldn't take it anymore
