Default So who carries a revolver because auto-loaders are under-powered.

I was burning through some Yankee Marshal, and something came up.

The power of revolvers vs auto loaders.

    ^10 MM vs .44 mag.

I'd never realized how extensive the power difference is. I have a buddy who stopped carrying a 9mm after a joker tried to rob him at knife point (he went .44 mag). His was about his personal feelings however.
However, being more informed, I am wondering if mayhap I should be carrying a .44 mag myself.

Harry Callahan would approve of both of you.

Now wait. I carry a 1911, because I am an American. I'm just wondering if I should make it my BUG.

I carry a 686 4" about 50 percent of the time and most of the times in the woods. I am totally confident in it and it is accurate as hell.

It's kind of a load of crap when it comes to pocket guns, a sub-compact 9mm is not very far behind a .357 out of a 2" barrel, but with cheaper ammo and easier to shoot.

Having a gun, being willing to kill someone and being able to hit what you shoot at matter infinitely more than gun choice.

IMNSHO All pistols are under powered. That said, I carry a .45ACP. Mainly because I carried one most of my adult life when I didn't have a choice. I have confidence that it will get the job done. I have shot .357, and 44mag. I find the recoil more than I want to deal with. It would slow down that second shot more than I would like. Get a timer and time your double taps. Then do it with what you carry now. 9mm? How is your accuracy? You need about a 4" group or less at 7 yards. If you can really be fast and accurate with a 44mag, good for you. I can't.

I usually carry either: S&W 627 Performance Center .357 mag (5 inch barrel, 8 shot). Or, S&W 657 Performance Center .41 Mag, 2.5 inch barrel.
Ballistic potential advantage IS one of the reasons I prefer the wheel guns. Both loads I carry in the .357 and the .41 have over 720 ft/p of muzzle energy. I just cannot get that in a semi auto without going to the exotic.
