60 days is reasonable. 60 weeks is taking it a bit too far.

Yes, the law, technically, is silent on such, but a decent application of not trying to push things too far makes life easier for everyone.

Kinda depends too on how long your sheriff takes to issue renewals
Like if you wait a week or so before to renew and your sheriff usually takes 45 days to issue renewals.

Thanks all. I'm at 70 days so by the time I drive into the city, park for $12, walk 3 blocks, wait in line...I should be with 60 days>

The question is...if you renew early, does the previous expiration date get 5 years added to it, or does it reset to 5 years from new payment date...which would be losing time paid for?

If the latter, no point of doing it other than to avoid forgetting.

If you want an exact answer why would you not call the Sheriff's office for your county? Each sheriff seems to do things differently depending whether they are pro- or anti-gun.

I meant loss in license term, not pennies. If you renew a year early, do you lose that year?
