Default How do police treat LTCF holders?

I have been wanting to get a carry license but have heard all sorts of rumors about secondary effects. One in particular is what happens when you get pulled over? One guy said that you should hand in your carry license along with your DL. That’s not a problem but then he said he might ask you to step out or even handcuff you until he is sure you are unarmed. What is the truth? Does your name end up with TSA too, may be other government databases?

Don't volunteer any info to a cop that you are not asked directly, and even then you are only obligated to mention firearm status to a Federal agent.

This is as I understand it in PA, and I'm no lawyer, so take it with a grain of salt.

I've been pulled over a few times while carrying. I never mentioned my gun, was never asked about it, did not give my LTCF with my DL, and everything was fine.

Due to the fact that they unaware that I have a LTCF (and even they knew I had a LTCF); They should show me with same Courtesy and Respect that I show them.
If the LEOs is unprofessional or rude in any way, I go to their Supervisor and complain person and in writing about the officer.

I've never been asked during a traffic stop in PA. I was stopped once near a gun show, and accidentally gave the officer an expired insurance card. She asked if I had the right one, and I told her yes, I need to open the console to get it. She thanked me for being respectful, and said, "You guys are not the ones I'm worried about." I received a warning for an expired inspection sticker.
Boy, I say boy, you're reaching the limits of my medication!

    Don't worry about it.

As far as cops are concerned, it is probably a good idea to tell the cop you are armed if he is likely about to discover it. For instance, if he asks you to get out of the car there is a chance he is going to pat you down. At which point I would say, "I have a license to carry firearms."

At a seminar a state policeman stated, "avoid an awkward situation". If asked to get out of a car and you gun
could print, or any other situation, inform him.

As I was walking to my car this morning in the parking lot, I saw a police officer casually walking to his car. We were parked close so I was tempted to actually ask him this question but decided against it. I wonder what he would have said.

A state trooper from the Washington PA barracks was very professional on I-70 this weekend when we met him. Unfortunately it cost my wife $140 :-(

It makes no difference what he would have said. It would have provided you no insight.
