Posting Gun Pics. Serial # blur??
I was looking at gun pics on other forums. I saw a lot of firearms with their serial numbers visible.
Is there anything negative that could come up from posting a picture of a gun with its serial number clearly showing?==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams

Sorry, no real "answer" for you...
I switch a few numbers using Photoshop when I post anything with an "identifying" number. (firearm, plate/house #...)
I figure if someone CAN use the number for "evil", it will have them wasting their time and scratching their heads when my numbers don't "come up."

The only way I can think of that someone could get any info by a srerial number would be through paper work, i.e. 4473 forms, and I'm not sure how anyone could access those.

I almost always blur mine, no big deal, but no reason to trumpet it around either

Maybe it's the fear that someone could report the gun as stolen from them, and have a serial number to "prove it". If you had no recpt. could be trouble.

If you're going to hide an identification number, please be thorough. You'd be amazed at what can be recovered from images that were thought to be "blurred beyond recognition".
