Default SWAT Honored for raiding wrong house

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) ― On Monday, Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan handed out honors to a team of officers involved in a botched raid at an innocent family's home more than seven months ago. The family is upset and their attorney criticizes the awards and questions the timing.

Just days before Christmas, the sound of intruders breaking into their home in North Minneapolis prompted Vang Khang to grab his shotgun to protect his six children. His terrified wife called 911.

Khang fired several shots at the "intruders" who turned out to be members of the Minneapolis Police Department's SWAT team. The officers returned fire. Their protective gear prevented them from being harmed by the bullets.

wow. it doesn't say if they got their house fixed or not. I'm also curious how that guy is still alive? usually once you fire at the swat team you go down instantly due to several gunshot wounds.

I would seriously question the SWAT team's training... someone shot a shotgun at them, they fired a ton of bullets, and noone was hurt?

Don't get me wrong...I am very glad that it turned out that way, since it was the wrong house and all, but the SWAT team didn't know that and they seem to have failed at their job...
And don't think you're off the hook, voters, you're the ones who made this bed. Now you're the ones who are going to have to move over so a gay couple can sleep in it. Tomorrow you're all going to wake up in a brave new world, a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones, created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. -- Stephen Colbert

The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Instead of awards they should have been given new training on professional responsibility and ...........dare I say it...........marksmanship.

The use no-knock warrants by the police is supposedly for their safety but cops get killed anyway. IMHO it seems that the risks are greater for everyone, police and innocents.
If the cop gets shot by a bad guy, then there might be a problem. When a bad guy gets shot by a cop, that's OK.
When an innocent gets killed by the police on a botched raid, it should be a criminal offense and charges should be filed against the SWAT Team that made the mistake or botched the raid.
