Ankle holsters do not care what your waist size is.

But they do care about the size of your gun.

They also care whether you're wearing shorts.

Although I suppose I could start a new trend: ankle open carry (AOC).

Another option would be to try one of the hybrid tuckable holsters : crossbreed, alien gear, king tuck, etc. I personally haven't used one, but those that do swear by them for comfort. I'm generally an oc person and use a pancake holster. If I untuck my shirt it still conceals fairly well. If I'm going to be oc all day I use a serpa. For more concealment I switch to a leather iwb from Don Hume and wear my shirt untucked.

Last option, buy some tacky Hawaiian shirts and conceal away.

Pictures are a must if you do that.

ok I promise if I'm ever caught dead in a Hawaiian shirt I'll take pictures lol. I'm not familiar with the idea of a hybrid holster though, can you elaborate?

"Hybrid" refers to the mix of materials used, which are typically Kydex and leather (although there's some variation, e.g. Alien Gear hybrid holsters use other materials). The leather distributes the weight nicely (with clips on either side of the holster pocket, vs. over it) while the Kydex wears well, provides stiffness for easy re-holstering after drawing, and is thinner than leather.

I carry a Glock 17 in a Crossbreed Supertuck Deluxe hybrid holster (or an M&P Shield in the smaller version of it).

I have an old Blackhawk polyeurethane that won't fit either it seems like there just isn't enough room left in the waist for the gun to fit unfortunately.
