Anyone rifle hunt at French Creek or gameland #43?
I am thinking of spending the first 3 days of deer season at French Creek. I have never been there before, I see they allow camping and might drag the war wagon up there. Anyone have experience rifle hunting that area? -I have only had a look at the map.
Don't have any idea of how crowded it usually is opening day, or if deer are plentiful or scarce. I'll be hunting with an evil black rifle- spreading the love and sending Fudds into fits of apoplexy at every bend of the trail.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Has semi-auto been approved?

Not yet, I'm using an FAL altered to manual action. But, I am of good cheer. Semiauto is coming; it's as inevitable as gay marriage and female Rangers.

He is correct. On the Berks side of 5C you can hunt with rifle, but if you are in Montgomery Co, you will be using a shotgun only. I belong to Elverson and it runs right into French Creek. I haven't hunted from my club in rifle season, but from what I've been told by Elverson members that it's a sea of orange in the woods first week in rifle season...at least near Elverson Gun Club.

I hunted French Creek State Park probably 10 years ago during the second week. I think part of the park is in the special regs area too but they had it pretty well marked. Saw 2 or 3 other hunters and the only deer I saw were on the grounds of the Hopewell Furnace National Park (no hunting there) when I was heading home. It was better than being at work but it wasn't great. It would be fun to do the camping thing for deer season though.

The available maps are very detailed. It looks like there is plenty of space on the Berks county side.
I am hoping not to see orange spots before my eyes....
It can't be worse than hunting opening day at Nockamixon, I've done that a time or two. I did not hear any incoming but heard far too many shots very close by.
I felt safer in Asskrackastan.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter
