Default question on fall turkey weapon

I'm hunting 1a this fall for turkey, and reading through the hunting &trapping digest it looks like the only place I CAN'T use a 22 rifle is 2a and 2b. Am I reading that right?

Without even looking up the regulations my question is WHY. Legal or not a .22 is the worst weapon I can think of for a turkey........You won't ever hit the head and if you hit it in the body you will never find the turkey.

12 ga / full choke / 4 shot to the head..........

Agree with that... maybe xfull or xxfull but 4/6 turkey shot to head/neck.

Rifle rounds on turkey need to penetrate heart/lungs just like any other animal and not sure a 22 is gonna do that. 22 is more for Squirrel/rabbit/etc not wild turkey. Plus for turkey, a chest shot is likely to ruin a good portion of the meat.

The question was "IS IT LEGAL TO HUNT FALL TURKEY WITH A .22 RIFLE" NOT... "what are your personal feelings on the subject." If I wanted a "I feel this way about hunting." Answer, I would have asked a liberal....

Your first post was correct. You CAN use a 22 in any WMU open to fall hunting with the exceptions of "WMU 2B (and the Allegheny County portion of 2A)" (quote directly from page 42 of this year's manual)
