    Default Slug gun for kids

A 7 year old girl has expressed an interest in deer hunting. We are in 5D, so shotgun rules apply. Any recommendations for a gun? I use an H&R 20 GA slug gun and it is too much for her.
Boy, I say boy, you're reaching the limits of my medication!

Anything shooting an ounce of lead from the muzzle is going to be a handful for a young lady who is 7. Have you considered a crossbow?

I say hunt in an WMU that allows centerfire as shotgun recoil is rough for adults yet alone a 7 YO. My daughter is 6 and I would never even try to have her shot a 20ga shotgun. You are going to make her recoil sensative.

I've never owned a 410, but I'd look at a 410 or as poster above suggested crossbow.

The 410 is still no slouch when it comes to recoil.

I do not know much of anything about shotgun only areas. But if a crossbow or maybe even a muzzleloader is allowed to be used instead , perhaps that is a solution.
A friend I had back in my school days used a 410 "he never killed any by the way" . And another older fella related to me used a 410 but not so sure that was "hunting" to take deer.
But the 410 just isnt something I'd want to use unless is was an ideal shot and either a crossbow or muzzle loader would be a better option I think.

Take her out, set up a blind and use some type of rest for her, 410 will kill any deer.

A 410 will kill any deer with a well placed shot. If it was me and she had to use a shotgun I would get her as much range time as I could shooting the gun off sandbags or a leadsled to get her comfortable with it. If you don't have a set of shooting sticks or a rest for in the woods I would look into a set of those as well.
