    Default If you're ARs sights cowitness with your optic why fold them?

    I do it too. I just don't know why though. They do not obstruct the dot on my standard EOTech 512. Maybe it's just a because I can type of thing.

    It keeps them from breaking off ears when you jam it through crack holes in concrete slabs in outdoor bins.

    Although I still want to know how exactly that did happen (since it was a FSB and not a BUIS).

    In my case I only have a flip up rear. I habitually keep it folded though. I broke the front ear and post on the rifle when I did jam it in between some cracked blocks as previously mentioned. When I withdrew it I probably turned it sideways some and sheered them off.

    ^This. Easier to focus on the red/green dot with the rear down. OK, I don't really mean 'focus', but you know what I mean.
