Carrying during the visit of the Pope?
So I was reading up on the visit of the Pope to Philadelphia, and in the article they stated that there would be a certain zone (the red zone) that pedestrians would have to be wanded in order to enter.
With this, I believe they plan to turn anyone away who may be carrying a weapon. But what if I am legally concealed carrying? Isn't the section they consider the red zone still public property, and can they legally restrict my right to carry in this zone of public property?
Any insight would be helpful, thanks!

Re: Carrying during the visit of the Pope?
I believe Harrisburg is already in lock-step with Nutter's declaring it an emergency. I don't think that would preclude CC, but it's Philly. More than that, Nutter says it isn't about protecting the Pope, it's about being able to walk the beautiful, but narrow, streets of (your) city in safety. Expect to be told to return whence you came if discovered carrying...or more likely, told to hand it over and retrieve it at a later time at a designated location. Good luck with it being in the same condition after being thrown into a large barrel along with the others.

I don't plan on going down there, I was just curious about how it would play out. Honestly I was curious if that would be adequate grounds for a lawsuit, with them disallowing people from exercising their rights on public property.

I'm wondering if they are going to try find some sneaky way to suspend LTCF's in Philadelphia that weekend?

They'll probably work some magic about banning guns with that SOE they are imposing; other than the usual LTCF being needed.

Re: Carrying during the visit of the Pope?
I plan on staying far away that weekend but I am pissed about the right's violations that will be happening. I just don't get how they can put up a fence around public property and search you and your belongings before entering. But they (Philly and other cities) do that during marathons now since the bombing in Boston happened. Don't ask me how they can get away with it. I challenged it during the Philadelphia marathon last year and was very suddenly surrounded by a half dozen cops. Wasn't fun.
