Does Washington state even have preemption? if they do, taxes on guns could fall under preemption, if not Philadelphia city counsel would waste no time passing such handgun sales taxes.

Next they will fight bad hygiene by taxing soap.
They really need to implement a stupidity tax, they would make a fortune.

How many programs can they create with the REAL ~$20,000 or so this will raise each year?

And yes...I know this is "estimated" to raise $300,000 to $500,000. But lets be realistic.

At $25 per gun sold, the three gun shops in Seattle (I believe its three) would have to sell 12,000 guns a year combined to reach $300,000. 20,000 guns a year combined to reach $500,000.

At $0.02 per round, the three gun shops in Seattle would have to sell 15,000,000 rounds of 22-caliber ammunition to reach $300,000. 25,000,000 rounds of 22-caliber ammunition to reach $500,000.

At $0.05 per round, the three gun shops in Seattle would have to sell 6,000,000 rounds of non-22-caliber ammunition to reach $300,000. 10,000,000 rounds of non-22-caliber ammunition to reach $500,000.

I don't see the gun stores doing THAT well, especially since people can just drive to the suburbs and buy the same guns and ammo without the BS tax.

just like all the rest of the tax money that is used and abused without any improvement in the stated "cause"

This is the same as the tobacco tax in Philly. You need the tax to pay for the schools, but at the same time The Philly bans smoking everywhere(almost) and PHA bans smoking in any PHA property. Why the bans, to help people quit smoking. If people quit smoking then the money you need for the schools is gone. Seriously can politicians be so stupid.

Any coincidence that most of the liberals I know have stated at one time or another " We think we might move to Seattle when we retire"
