20ga semi?
My cousin asked me if I could recommend a decent 20ga semi auto, problem is I don't know much about semi auto shotguns. I figured I'd just post here and see what you guys had to say, I think he wants it for home defense but he's had some shoulder surgeries in the past which is why he doesn't wanna go 12ga. I told him just get an AR he said he'd rather have a 20ga... Go figure! I think his budget is about $5-600
Thanks for your input guys!

Re: 20ga semi?
With that budget he's going to be pretty limited. I've heard and seen good things coming from the Stoeger M3000 / M3500 series. That should fit the budget.
Otherwise, try and find a Mossberg 930 in 20g or a used Rem 1100.I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

Mossberg makes the SA20 as well. Nordic components makes a mag extension and there are several models to choose from. I've finger fucked one but never shot it.........

Re: 20ga semi?
My vote is for the Rem 1100. Tried and true gun. 100'000s of them made. A $3 oring in the gas system for a tune up every 50,000 rounds or so and it stays running. Still use mine weekly for trap and sporting clays. It was made in '74 and runs like a clock. Can't go wrong and found used often for $500 or under.

Re: 20ga semi?
Wish I could find a 20ga for $500. I don't see very many 1100's for sale , despite probably a million or more made. OTOH I have a 16ga LNIB.
The O-ring;
Too many people use cheap hardware store Buna rubber o-rings , and then they bitch about the system. Gotta use O-rings made from hi-temp Viton. Ya can usually find them at automotive shops , or on-line.I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: 20ga semi?
Franchi made the model 48AL in 20 gauge. I have one with a 28 mod that is deadly on small game, and very fast. It weighs about 5 pounds loaded. Excellent used ones are in your price range, and it uses the Browning long recoil system, which is easy on the shoulder.
