Default Buck's County Townships to declare State of Emergency for Pope's visits

    http://www.buckscountycouriertimes.c...6c3f0cf8f.html

Just a reminder: If you don't have your LTCF, you can't OC while there is a declared state of emergency.

Good Heads up. Thanks. Also seems like the Township is making a good decision to do so since it might then be eligible for federal reimbursement of its extraordinary expenses. I of course will be home in Montco when it all comes down.

It doesn't mean what they think it means.

Yeah, are there guidelines from the state somewhere that spell out under what conditions a SOE can be declared???

IANAL.... I thought the state of emergency had to be declared by the Governor of Pa. (for the law on open carry with a LTCF to kick in) not the local Twp. supervisors and the Police Chief. I will be sure to keep an eye on this ! I just read 6107 and found that the local municipal government can call a state of emergency, and it does effect your right to carry. SMH because the POPE is coming to town putting a hurt on the little local government...

It's a scary thing allowing low level politicians to hold that kind of power! Just because a police chief, and that IS a politician, says its a good idea, well, that should scare everyone around him. That's a power-tripping thugs move! Very close to Martial Law! "We merely are asking you to surrender a few of your rights, and total control over your life, until this 'emergency' has passed! Maybe a bit longer, no more than six months. With an option to extend indefinitely at our discretion."

How could this possibly be declared as a State of Emergency?

Agree, this isn't what a normal person would call an emergency but it seems like they're doing it to facilitate the the receipt of federal funds to cover their expenses. It certainly sets a pretty low bar for future declarations of emergencies.

As usual, pretty much everything involving government can be tracked right back to control and/or $'s.
