On Independence Day, think about what we've learned and earned: in the United States, and in any state, you can be indicted for the felony of being a ham sandwich, but not only that, you can and will be convicted of being a felony ham sandwich if that is what a judge instructs of your jury of peers. An appellate judge will affirm your conviction and sentence, and if you wait a year, no one will free you under habeas corpus. You will forever be a felonious ham sandwich under the law. You have no apparent constitutional right not to be a felonious ham sandwich. That is the state of jurisprudence today.

As SCOTUS tells us this year that we have no constitutional right to actual innocence in the face of an approximately 'fair' trial before a jury of our peers, and as we are forever inundated with accusations of offenses under unconstitutional law, we are free to become a society to felons whom have commited no offense recognized by statutory or common law. An officer need only write it down, again a prosecutor, and then only one judge after another need confirm it. One can become a felon or by anything imaginable in the mind, rather than what is proscribed and written in fair notice.

Gun felonies can come from thin air, then, too. Anyone can proffer a complaint that alleges one possesses a magazine holding 10 rounds, and despite that there is not, and never was, any statutory prohibition on that, a magistrate will be happy to railroad, as a prosecutor is jubilant about prosecuting, and a stone-hearted judge will be delighted to confirm. To imagine a prohibition is no different than to proceed upon an unconstitutional act of the legislature. Com. v. Sweitzer points this out, in a case about concealed carry of deadly weapons before licensing came about.

When the people are so corrupt, any possession of a gun can be criminal, even without forewarning. That has become the American Way. We celebrate 'Independence Day' when what we celebrate is not only unwarranted dependence upon government but also dependence on friends and family. While the latter might be warranted, we don't do this with a face toward what had to be woefully earned by seceding from a government and killing its officials, while our forefathers died in securing posterity.

It's the Fourth of July and none of us are far away from becoming felonious ham sandwiches. Be kind to your neighbors and turn their hearts toward keeping America safe from enemies of the Constitution.

Don't think for a moment that they won't come for your tactical bacon. They've gone after cholesterol, saturated fats, trans fats, salt, nitrates and nitrites. Is there BPA lining your can? Was your can made in a manufactory that also processes lead, cadmium, uranium, or heavy/radioactive metals? Or peanuts perhaps? Remember, three federal felonies a day according to Harvey Auric Silverstein or whatever his name is... I figure one of 'em is bound to be under the USDA/FDA/EPA, either in final possession of that can of tactical bacon, or upon the responsibility of someone along the mfg. process.
