Can you get a license to carry a firearm after an expungement
My question involves criminal records for the state of: NJ
Hello to all in 2006 I plead guilty to 3rd degree burglary in NJ by the way I was and have been a PA residence I was sentenced to one year probation and completed my probation in July of 2008 I filed for expungement back in September under the early expungement program that NJ offers given the consideration of your character and conduct since the time of your arrest til now I haven't been in any other trouble I worked as a emt in Philadelphia for 8 years I am active in the community being a member of the Prince Hall Freemasons given the consideration my expungement is granted which is looking on the upside will I be able to purchase a firearm in the state of Pennsylvania and apply for my license to carry? Any other questions please feel free to ask and thank you ahead of time for any responses take care

Welcome to the board.
I'm having a heckuva time understanding your post.
Immana show you how much better it looks with traditional paragraphs and some more punctuation:
Hello to all
In 2006 I plead guilty to 3rd degree burglary in NJ. By the way I was and have been a PA residence.
I was sentenced to one year probation and completed my probation in July of 2008.
I filed for expungement back in September under the early expungement program that NJ offers given the consideration of your character and conduct since the time of your arrest.
til now I haven't been in any other trouble. I worked as a emt in Philadelphia for 8 years.
I am active in the community being a member of the Prince Hall Freemasons.
Given the consideration my expungement is granted. which is looking on the upside, will I be able to purchase a firearm in the state of Pennsylvania and apply for my license to carry?
Any other questions please feel free to ask and thank you ahead of time for any responses.
Take care.
If expunged... and you have documentation saying so...it can be done. Talk to a Lawyer.
DO NOT FILL OUT AND SUBMIT the forms until you have paid a pro to share expertise on the matter.
Don't screw up the process at this stage. Get it right the first time, because doing it Rong has permanent consequences.
Congratulations on living a better life.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

Yes, welcome aboard. Mark's right. It's wise to get a lawyer to help you through the process. Glad to hear you're working to turn your life around. I hope everything works out.

What you got doesn't matter. It's what the max penalty could have been. You need a lawyer.

Ooooh, you lose TWICE.
Merriam-Webster says that "FBI" is an acronym. Sort of like LTCF.
Full Definition of ACRONYM
: a word (as NATO, radar, or laser) formed from the initial letter or letters of each of the successive parts or major parts of a compound term; also : an abbreviation (as FBI) formed from initial letters

Re: Can you get a license to carry a firearm after an expungement
I must kindly inform you that you are incorrect.
A lawyer admitted to both NJ and PA experienced with expungements could provide him the best advice.
I had an arrest with a dismissal in NJ and later filed for expungment and had no difficulty obtaining an LTCF
The NJ expungement order language is clear and uniform in most vicinages and states that
"for the purposes of law the offense which is the subject matter of this order will be deemed not to have occurred"
barring no other issues that would subject him to more scrutiny under the character clause in Philly he should get an LTCF even from the PPD.
I believe the recent class action settlement also states that PPD can not consider expunged matters.Last edited by gbrown221; July 3rd, 2015 at 05:37 PM.
