Is DCFS Open?
Anyone know if DCFS is open? I went by a few days ago and there was a chain across the driveway and a sign. (didn't catch what it said) Both Knowlton and Creek Roads have been closed at times over the last week so I'm guessing they've gotten hit hard by the weather/power outages too.

DCFS did get hard and is not open. If you have facebook keep up to date via the DCFS facebook page, the club website is another place to look.

Storm Update 7-03
Work to clear trees is going very well. The Executive Committee met Wednesday night to conduct monthly business, discuss progress of the cleanup and to make plans to return the club to normal operations. The goal is to open the club to the members as soon as possible.
To accomplish this the officers have come up with the following plan:
The club will be made accessible to the Range Officers and members on Saturday July 4th to permit the officers time to inspect their range and perform any remaining minor cleanup. Other members who are able to help the ranges clean are asked to meet at any range they wish beginning at 10am on the 4th.
We are asking for the cleanup to be limited to picking things up, raking and minor repairs. NO WORK REQUIING CHAINSAWS WILL BE PERMITTED. REMOVAL OF THE REMAINING TREES WHCH HAVE FALLEN WILL BE HANDLED BY THE CONTRACTOR ON SITE.
Saturday will be the first opportunity members will have to see the club first hand. The day will be reserved for cleanup, inspection and a determination of the next phase of the plan to restore operation. THERE WILL BE NO SHOOTING PERMITTED ON ANY OF THE RANGES ON SATURDAY JULY 4TH.
By the evening of Saturday July 4th the club Officers will make a determination on opening the club for shooting. This determination will be emailed to the member distribution list and will be posted on-line. The goal is to open the club for shooting on Sunday July 5th but this will depend on the condition of the ranges and grounds at the end of Saturday.
We expect to close the club again during the July 6th work week to permit the contractors to continue work with saws and heavy equipment.
These past 9 days have been challenging to say the least. Impact of the storm will be obvious to you whenever you arrive at the club. As soon as you begin up the driveway you will see it dotted with the remnants of trees that completely blocked access to the club.
We owe George, Stacy, their crew and several of our Officers a huge THANK YOU for their work to clear debris and in particular create access to the club immediately following the storm.
Hope to see you at the club.

Re: Is DCFS Open?
I spent the morning at DCFS cleaning-up the high-power range. I believe that most ranges are slated to be open tomorrow, July 5 although I'd presume that airgun will be down for a while.
It seems that the ranges at the top of the club (airgun, 5-stand and skeet) caught the most damage. Based on the amount of cut-up trees and branches that line the driveway, I'm sure that the place was a disaster right after the storm. If anyone had been there when the storm hit, my guess is that they wouldn't have been able to leave for a couple of days.

Storm Update 7-04With the final cleaning for most of the ranges completed today the club and ranges (except those noted below) will open for regular hours on Sunday July 5th. The club Kitchen will be open on Sunday.
Rages that will remain closed are:
Air Rifle/pistol- This range has been cleared but the safety fence needs to be replaced.
Air Rifle Field- This range requires extensive cleanup throughout the trails.
Archery Field- This range requires extensive cleanup throughout the trails.
All other ranges will return to normal operation for Sunday July 5th.
Please note that due to continued work during the work week ALL ranges will be closed again after shooting hours on Sunday July 5th.
At this time the Monday and Wednesday night matches on the Pistol Range and the Wednesday night match on the Black Powder Range WILL be held. An assessment will be made for the evening Shotgun matches later in the week and will be communicated by an email and posted on-line.
Thank you to everyone who was able to help with the Saturday cleaning.
Hope to see you at the club.DCF&S
