Default RIA GI 1911 9MM - Broken Ejector

So recently my Rock Island Armory GI 1911 in 9mm was having problems. The pistol was failing to eject spent cases, stovepiping, and the slide would move forward to chamber a new round, but still have the spent case in the extractor. I field stripped the pistol and took a close look at it. What i noticed was it appears my ejector is broken. The "angle" of my ejector is not smooth and when I reassembled my pistol and locked the slide back, I couldn't even see the ejector. I have two (2) options:

    1) Send the pistol back to Armscor and have them fix it.
    2) Buy a Wilson Combat extended ejector and have a gunsmith install.

I think I am going to go with option #2. I rather have a better part installed in my pistol than have the exact model ejector installed by Armscor. Below I attached a picture of my ejector.

Just install it yourself! A little bit of filing is all it should need; save time, money, and the gun never leaves your hands.
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

A 9mm ejector will likely be longer, taller and possibly wider than one used for. 45. If you're going to do it yourself make sure you are buying one that will work. I think there is some variation of how its handled depending on the maker. Springfield uses one that is taller and longer as well as being offset closer to the centerline.

Send it back. Why void the warranty and 99 times out of 100 they will tune it for JHPs.

Their customer service is supposed to be excellent I would give it a shot or just do it myself. The extractor/ejectors are typically the weakest links in the platform and a pretty easy fast fix.

If you don't get a response, email ivan@armscor.net. He is the smith who will more than likely be working on your gun. Either way, it may take more than a few days to hear from them, but they are awesome to deal with.

RIA contacted me. They sent me a paper and shipping form and said send it back! I'll drop it off at a fedex express location some time on Monday.

Just got back my 9mm GI 1911 today. RIA replaced the broken ejector with a new extended ejector, tuned the extractor, polished the feed ramp and barrel, cleaned and oiled it, and included an additional magazine. They took care of everything for free. Their customer service is 5 stars! I'm very happy.
