Default My Ruger P95 is turning purple

Not sure if there are any other posts about this, but I thought I'd put one out there...

Has anyone else experienced their Ruger's slide turn purple? I've read it has something to do with the metallurgy...

From what I've heard it's because of the metals they use to cast their components mixed with the chemicals they use for bluing. A lot of older Ruger rifles and handguns will have this. Some like it, some hate it, and some don't mind either way.

I don't necessarily mind it, just find it a little odd.

A lot of older Dan Wesson revolver frames do that also. I have one that has done it. We call it Barneying. (as in the purple dinosaur that was a kids show a few years back)

My FEG PA-63 has VERY purple bluing on the frame. I had a P95, which I bought new, and it had a purple tint to the slide as well. I was told it is a reaction of the bluing to certain metals or contaminated bluing.

STOP!! Stop shooting it. Its broken bluing condition and you can actually go blind from sunlight haze reflection. so stop shooting it and sell it to me.
