My first AR 15 pistol build.
I never owned an AR 15 pistol and thought, after reading an article about the efficiency of it in a home defense situation, I should give it a try. I am not sure I like it yet but I can see how it can be effective in certain situations.
So when someone on this site offered me a brand new 10.5" LMT upper for a trade, I accepted.
Then I went to Kings shooters and, since I am clueless regarding AR's, I figure I ask for their help.
They were very helpful and helped me select a RRA lower with national match two stage trigger, a 10.5" handrail from a local company that is very nice, an Aris bolt group, a low profile gas block, a buffer tube, an optical riser, a low end optical with very bright green or red aimpoint for easy target pick up and finally Mogpul front and rear flip sights.
The total cost without the upper was little over $ 900. And since I couldn't put it together because of lack of experience they offered to do it for me. Sure enough today Adam, the store manager, called me and told me that he had it all put together.
I went to pick it up and it look very nice. It reminded me of what we used in the Italian navy.
I am sure that you guys could do it cheaper and with maybe still quality parts, but I am happy with what was suggested and the quality of the parts.
Now I think I am going to look for a place to shoot it and then maybe put together an SBR after getting the stamp and all the rest necessary for it.
I think I can get used to owning AR's. Who knows maybe even an AK.
What you guys think of it???

Re: My first AR 15 pistol build.
1. The ALG rail is awesome.
2. You may want an H buffer for her if you don't have one, she'll have some more felt recoil especially with 5.56 ammo. IIRC the LMT has a .70 ish gas port which isn't huge for a 10.x gun so the H should work nice.
3. I'd consider a real aimpoint at some point, they are pretty cheap now a days.
4. Any future plans, SBR, brace? Looks nice, have fun!I always sleep with my guns when you are gone

Re: My first AR 15 pistol build.
Thank you. I was thinking to get a Thordsen cheek rest for it. We'll see. I am planning to get an Eotech at some point but the one that is on it works really good and for home defense I think it seems good enough.
Depending on how this shoots I might get an SBR also.E FLUCTIBUS IRRUIT IN HOSTEM. AECIDAE TELO IACET LIBATIS.
