    Default Freedom Munitions .223 recall

    Dear Valued Freedom Munitions Customer:

Our goal is to offer the customer the best quality ammunition at the lowest possible price. Out of an abundance of caution, we believe there may be some ammunition that was shipped which did not meet our exacting standards. In an effort to maintain these high standards, Freedom Munitions would like you to review your recent order of .223 Remington 55 grain FMJ Reman ammunition manufactured between 1/18/15 - 1/23/15 and 3/2/15. We believe that your order was shipped on or after one of these dates and may contain some ammunition that we feel is not up to our standard of quality.

Please check your ammunition box for the following lot numbers marked in red. The lot number information is located on the white sticker on the end of each fifty (50) count box below the bar code.

    Example

If your ammunition contains any of the lot numbers:

    xxxxx-17490-xx
    xxxxx-17492-xx
    xxxxx-17710-xx
    xxxxx-21937-xx

We ask that you please call our 24-hour customer support line at (208) 553-5188 or send an email to returns@hmtgroup.us confirming that you do OR do not have any of these lots of ammunition we would greatly appreciate it. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to receiving your call or email so we may answer any question you have.

If you do have any of these lot numbers, we ask that you call or email us with your full name, order number, contact number, and the number of rounds you have remaining from the lot. A pre-paid return shipping label will be emailed to you so this product can be returned to our factory for inspection at our cost. We will provide replacement product to you immediately as well as include a free box of fifty (50) rounds of .223 55 grain FMJ ammunition as a thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Please contact us if you have any questions or need additional information.

    Best regards,
The Freedom Munitions Customer Service Team

This would be the lot my friend had which contained a handful of rounds with no powder. Nice squib loads.

"may contain some ammunition that we feel is not up to our standard of quality".
equates to no propellant installed??? They should be required to WARN in plain English the DANGEROUS potential. People seeing danger are far more likely to act accordingly than worry about a vague "standard of quality". Did these people work for the government at some point in the past?

So glad I didn't buy any ammo from them. Some people really like them. Then you read the recalls.

Was reading the manual for my S&W 40-cal while watching the kids play in the pool last week and it specifically said not to shoot reloads in it, and it's a steel-framed pistol, not polymer.

I know that's probably in there so protect the gun and shooters from overloaded home made rounds, but that coupled with the recalls they've been having really make me want to stay away from Freedom Munitions.

I have shot lots of their pistol ammo, mostly remans, and haven't had any problems. I'm talking a couple thousand rounds.

Waht Sucks is when I got my rounds I emptied the boxes in an ammo can and chucked the boxes. All were visually inspected and seemed to have powder and bullets seated right. I emailed and I'll wait and see what they say. Maybe they'll exchange my ammo just to be safe.
