First time shooting past 400 yards with a pistol.
I managed to shoot my PAP M85NP pistol at 402 yards yesterday. We were shooting at my swingers and my 100% IPSC target.
I was only expecting the pistol to do well to 200 yards, so I was blown away that I was able to hit a 402 yard target.
My friend was also hitting the IPSC target with his 16" AR15.
AK and AR were both using Aimpoints. I have T1 on my AK pistol and my friend was using his PRO on his AR15.
I'd say I'm very happy with the results for a pistol using unmagnified optics.
I'll be picking up another PAP M85NP.
I posted this picture of it before, but I'll repost it since threads without pictures are boring. I didn't take any pictures yesterday since I had a ton of gear with me.

Re: First time shooting past 400 yards with a pistol.
We just brought out a 6' table and I had a front bag. I was also shooting from my Silk tripod as well.
I normally shoot off of my pack, but we had so much gear with us and I had my 6 year old daughter along, so didn't have much room underneath the canopy.

You wouldn't be the first to email the ATF and I'm sure you won't be the last.

Great shooting at 400 yards with iron sites (and a short sight radius)!! When I read pistols and 400 yards I immediately thought you were shooting a Contender (or Encore).
I have a Contender and was once a member of a club with a 500 yard range. Its a blast to hit the metal gong at 500 (and hear the sound returning a few seconds later). One day I was spotting for a guy shooting a .308 Savage Stryker handgun. He was shooting at a clay pigeon at 500 yards. It took him a few shots (with me spotting) but he hit it! Still remember hearing the gun blast and waiting about a second till I saw the clay pigeon shatter.

I actually had my action camera with me, but we didn't take any vids or pictures. Perhaps, next time we will try to do some videos.
I normally don't believe some of the claims I see online, but I can tell you that 402 yards is possible with AK pistol.
I wasn't using irons...I try not to use irons unless I really need to in an emergency. I was using Aimpoint T1 with 2MOA dot.
I just missed my opportunity to purchase a Savage Striker pistol. It was a great deal and I'm sure at some point I'll be getting one down the road.
