Need advice on survival videos
I have the good fortune of being a very healthy 73 year old. My 35 year old son and I are going to do some wilderness camping for two weeks in August. We will carry 3 days of dehydrated food to start off, but after that we will live off the land. As an old recon Marine, living off the land does not frighten me one bit. My son will carry bear spray, and I will load with 9mm Underwood Xtreme Penetrator. So we can deal with a bear. What we need is a gun for food.
Obviously, we are not going to kill, dress, and cook a deer. Squirrels, rabbits, snakes, and other small critters will be our targets for the next meal. So I am looking for a survival rifle, 22 LR RF. The Henry Ar-7 is very appealing because it breaks down with parts stored in the stock/receiver group.
I googled the topic and got so much to wade through that quit that effort.
If you can offer advice on a .22 RF LR that is as compact, I'd really appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks in advance.

If you can find a Scout M6 rifle that is what I would recommend. They come in .410/ .22 combinations. As for Videos go to you tube and check out The Pathfinder School with Dave Cantunbury <(sp)

Re: Need advice on survival videos
Not sure if you are camping in PA or another state, but if in PA small game season won't start til October. If you are doing this in PA you would be illegally hunting. Not lecturing, but you do need to know that especially if you are planning to do this for two months.
May want to consider fishing for your protein needs.
As far as rifles are concerned, I never understood why anyone would want a single shot rifle like the M6, but that's just me. I feel that there are much better options in a bolt action 22LR rifle. Mag fed or tube fed 22LR will allow one to have quick follow up shots.
You are able to hunt with suppressors in PA, so get a 22LR rifle that's threaded and get a suppressor using subsonic ammo and you will be able to collect some game. Of course you want to be hunting small game in season.

Rossi makes a nice twin barrel single shot combo.
.22 and 20 GA
also .223 and 20 GA
Stock/ receiver and both barrels in a nice tote bag...
I also liked my henry AR7.
Of course that was Before the tragic boat fire....American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

+1 on the Rossi .22LR/20 gauge combo.
Compact, cheap, capable, and cheap. Oh, and did I mention cheap? I picked up the .22LR/20 gauge youth combo a few years ago for $130 out the door (@ Dick's ) and then filled out a $25 rebate for a final price of $105ish. It's been easily worth the money.

My vote would be either the ruger 10/22 take down or the NEF sposter single shot 22.
I don't care for the rossi , personally but many folks do.

Survival Lilly, she has great videos on YouTube.
I'd go with the Henry Survival Rifle as its so compact and light weight.
