    Where's your signals?

Hand signals , just like the drivers manual shows.

Turn signals weren't federally required till 1977. They were dealer installed options on Harleys up till then. PA law only says if ya got 'em , they must work.

If I remember they were an option on the very late pans but buy 68 I thought they were standard on FL's which means if they came with them technically you have to have them. I could be wrong on the standard equipment but I was pushing a broom in 68 at Sparky's HD in Easton that year and it's just something I sort of remember.

Well , it's easy to find in any Harley restoration book. They were optional till the 70's. Thought it was '77 but it's '73. '77 was constant on headlight. My Pop's '55 has 'em as it got the DELUXE package from either the factory or dealer.

Some states may vary with their requirements , but the Fed DOT said Jan 1 1973.

    b) The following vehicles shall be equipped with a lamp-type turn signal system meeting the requirements of this chapter.
    ...
    (4) Motorcycles manufactured and first registered on or after January 1, 1973
I was a PA M/C inspection mechanic. PA says 1985 on must have 'em. I never failed a nice Harley for no TS , but if a bike had 'em , they had to work. Hand signals are perfectly legal whether they're on the bike or not. Just have to make your intention known.
