Looking for gunsmith for rifle build

I'm looking for a gunsmith in the greater Bucks Co area, but willing to travel throughout eastern PA for the right experience.

I looked through the last year of messages and see a lot of discussions for pistolsmiths, but not much for precision rifles, unless I missed it somehow.

Current plan is for a Remy 700 built from parts, but would discuss alternative options with the 'smith before getting started.

Just curious why you limit yourself to just SEPA? There are plenty of good smiths all over the country. When you limit yourself you really aren't looking for that whole custom experience, IMO.

Anyone out of gunsmithing school will know how to work on a 700 action.

Only to be able to work with someone face-to-face and not to have to ship parts around. You're right, though, those things shouldn't be a significant factor in the selection practice.

The reason I'm asking the question is because I'd like to find someone with some experience who is known to have done good work in the past. I agree that a new smith could accomplish the task of the build, but will the end result (and advice along the way) be as good as someone who's worked on 100s of Rem 700s?
