    Default gunsmith capable of porting nrar lehigh valley?

    im looking to get a rifle ported and recrowned possibly in the future was wonder if anyone does this in the lehigh vallay and approx prices

    You might want to check with Precision Armaments located outside of Slatington on Rt. 873, Charlie does awesome rifle work and I am sure he could help you out, his number is in the book.

    You can do porting, but a good crown and thread job is actually easier....then just torque on the brake of your choice (which are more effective than ports).

    how would one do porting on his own then? and what is a good way to recrown the barrrel? i did a recrown once with a marble and valve lapping compound but its verry time consuming never threaded a barrel before but wouldnt mind trying

    Porting into riflings is not a home job. Threading isn't so bad and then you have all sorts of options for brakes....depending on the caliber. Many gunsmiths will thread your barrel for a nominal fee.

    anyone know a rough price idea for porting and crowning? i dont expect it to be dead on the price but want an idea how much i would need to save up

    Porting and crown goes about $150....often less. Threading and crown is cheaper, but then you need to factor in the price of the comp.
