    Default Renew your permit.

Last time I had to renew , I think they only took cash as payment.
The time before that they only took checks.
Now , they only take money orders?
Come on , in another five years they will only take what? Gold bullion?
Where's a guy even get a money order any more?
    I don't know.
    I thought they went extinct.
    Maybe the post office downtown?
Oh , how I love going down town................

I think it depends on the county you are getting the permit in.

In Erie County, it's still cash.

" PA applicants are required to have a valid Pennsylvania Drivers License or a Government Issued Photo ID and must pay a a fee of $20.00 (cash only) at the time the application is submitted."

That sounds like BS on their part to me. Look at their web site or call ahead of time to see which form of payment they are accepting when you need to renew again.
Money orders are not totally obsolete, you can get them at the Post Office for about a dollar, many convenience stores and Wal-Mart sell them for about a buck and a half or so. I can get one for free at my bank because I have the right type of checking account with them, (otherwise it would be about $14.00). When I renew anything that has to deal with the government, (Driver's license, vehicle regstration, LTCF, dog license or whatever), I'm always prepared to pay by cash, Check or credit card. I've never had to pay by money order but I certainly don't doubt that it could be an extra hoop to jump through and it would thoroughly piss me off if I had several payment options available and was turned away to go somewhere and spend money needlessly and return to have that payment accepted. What a complete waste of time and effort, (not to mention the extra buck or two and the bad attitude that anyone might get from me because of the inconvenience).
I've found that what regular people think should be customary and acceptable can be completely wrong in the eyes of some govt. agencies.

I don't have a short temper, I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

There are certain Penna licensing matters in which the commonwealth insists on a money order made out to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the only form of payment acceptable.

In my area, the check cashing, gold-buying stores will write a MO for 49 cents.

Maybe my money is defective, but all my folding money says, "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". I think that just about covers the issue.

It should be a crime for anyone in America to refuse to accept American money! Not a little crime either, I want it to be one of those crimes where you get to drag them outside and kick the shit out of them !!

All Post Offices have money orders, only thing I accept when I sell a gun.
Many convenience stors, like Sheetz, Country Fair. They're really not hard to find.

    It was money order only.
I went to one Sheetz , they said they do not sell money orders.
Sheetz told me to try K-mart?????????
I went to a Nic tobacco store. They sold me one.
I did go to a post office in a strip mall , they said I had to go to the post office downtown for a money order as they no longer can sell them.
I guess they do not want cash laying around at the sheriff's office.
Seems someone from the sheriff's office may be tempted.
And they say they had many bad checks from people.
Who writes a bad check to the sheriff's office , that seems like a rather stupid thing to do.
