Attention .380 Bodyguard users!
Took my BG to Gander Mt. at the Lycoming Mall in Muncy, PA on Friday and for $20 had the trigger stroke shortened. It was a 10 minute in and out job. The gun was tested for reliability and safety function. It passed both using measuring devices in the shop and subsequently passed both as well in the field.
I have always loved the gun except for the trigger pull.
I was also informed by the gunsmith that Galloway Precision makes a "short stroke" kit for the .380 BG trigger. But the kit alone cost $100 before installation. That is 1/4 the price of the gun or more. It is is easy to read about; just type .380 Bodyguard trigger improvement or simply Galloway Precision into your web browser.
Just something for you to think about.

So you got a 10 minute short stroke and it cost you $100?

He explained that the BG has a continuum or range of trigger pull necessary to move the spring enough to exert sufficient force to strike the primer with the firing pin. S&W has it adjusted to the maximum range - He moved it to an acceptable minimum but still in the margin of reliable operation. He did not tell me exactly how he did it.

People talk about it all the time but I have no idea what a “bad” trigger is. Every gun I have owned fired when I puled the trigger.

In this case the trigger was traveling to almost touching the back of the trigger guard before releasing the firing pin. It gave the impression, by feel, that the gun was not going to fire and then just when you thought about starting to let up the firing pin would fall.

I was just curious what modifications they made so I could research if it was a good practice or not. I've not seen any trigger fix other than the Galloway short stroke kit.

Re: Attention .380 Bodyguard users!
My uncle has an H&R single barrel shotgun. It cost him like 75 bucks. That thing has a bad trigger as in it bites every time you pull it. It will likely draw blood too.
I mean I get that feel of a gritty trigger and a heavy trigger pull seem to be the two things I dislike in a trigger. Other than that just about everything I don't mind. Well except that damn shotgun. That thing sucked.
