    Default HUNTERTOWN KESTREL 9

Has anyone used or have this suppressor. Looking to buy my first suppressor and this one looked interesting for my first can.

I don't own a 9mm, but I do own the Kestrel 22 Guardian Supressor. It's a nice can and does a great job using 22 subsonic ammo. As Huntertown promotes on their web site http://huntertownarms.com/guardian22.php these suppressors are easy to clean and reassemble and the company did a fine job of machining them. I've had mine for about 3 years and use it on a 22 rifle and a 22 pistol. I think it's just a fun little toy to have.

I really like Huntertown Arms 22 suppressors and their Kestrel 308 can is one tough baby that handles full-auto on my AK like a champ with decent suppression, but it's pretty heavy. I have a Guardian 9 can and I just don't like the suppression on it. The biggest flaw with the Kestrel models are their weight.

My favorite 9mm can is my AAC Ti-Rant 9mm, the suppression on a MP5-N is pretty impressive as some here on the forum can tell you about from my last trip to the PAFOA gun shoot.

If you are interested in demo'ing some suppressors, contact me for a free demo shoot between the Guardian 9 and the AAC Ti-Rant.

I will attest that WCMG is a great guy to deal with. I'm sure he doesn't recall but last year I purchased a DPMS from him. Great guy to deal with.

The price point on the Kestrel 9 is nice ($549 MSRP), but as already mentioned, the higher weight is the downside (21 oz). Also it is 1.5" diameter and 7.5" long. A TiRant 9 is pretty light (8.6 oz), 1.38" diameter and 7.9" long, and can also be disassembled for cleaning (who does that though?) so if you're buying an NFA item that you will probably have a long time, I would suggest spending a few hundred bucks more on a TiRant ($850 MSRP). One benefit of the Kestrel 9 is it's rated for centerfire rifle calibers. The TiRant isn't officially rated for this but plenty have shot 300 Blackout (subsonic only!) through it with no damage.
