    Default Sportsmans Clubs

    Hi fellow shooters,

I'm a fairly new shooter (2yrs) and have been really enjoying the sport. Most of my time has been spent at indoor ranges although fun I'd really like to do some shooting outside too. Eventually when my children are old enough I'd like to teach them how to shoot also.

I began researching a few of the area sportsmans clubs (I'm in West Bradford) and am interesting in joining one. I attended a club's most recent general membership meeting and at that time I wasn't able to join because I didn't have a sponsor. New member openings was limited to 50 and 41 new members were at the meeting so it looks like I'm out there.

My issue is that I don't know anyone who is a member of any of the local clubs but I need to have a sponsor to join.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

I think the March one is full but there will be another in April.

You will have to check constantly. The March one opened up at 8:00 AM. I checked like an hour later and it was full (40 spots). I happened to check later in the day and somebody must have cancelled (notification said registration was full but there was 1 spot available). So, when it opens up, you need to be on top of it. Good luck.

Private clubs are very popular these days and many have waiting lists, including the one I belong to. Most clubs also have scheduled shooting events that are open to the public*, which are a good way to meet members and get sponsored.

*Newbs and kids (with parent) are welcome at most shooting events.

Moving to West Chester area very soon. Looking at the closest clubs, I see West Caln Gun Club, Southern Chester County Sportsman's and Farmers Club, and Lower Providence Rod & Gun club. Anyone have experience with more than one of these? Which would you recommend?
All will be about the same distance from me. Looking a well rounded club as I will be shooting rifle, shotgun, pistol, and archery. Price wise it looks like West Caln is cheaper for family rate but it says no guests. SCCS&FC is next price wise but is a bit pricey on start up, plus no family rate just member and spouse.
