Re: PSA: Please read if you own a Winchester Safe . . .
Wonder if this is a new EO of Obama? Allow access to the inside of a safe 10 times and then lock permanently.
(I say this as jest but nothing would surprise me now)The USA is now a banana republic. Only without the bananas....or the Republic.

Re: PSA: Please read if you own a Winchester Safe . . .
I hadn't before I looked into it, that said, they're a subsidiary of Kaba Mas, which actually makes some very high-end products. Had the locksmith wanted the job, he would have been replacing my electronic lock with an S&G 6730. According to my research both units use the same mounting locations, but the locksmith said that it wouldn't just bolt up and that 2+ hours of customization would be required to make it work. (maybe this is true, maybe it's BS, I can't say for certain) Either way, after he tapped out I decided to go with a direct replacement because I didn't want to end up worrying about my jerry-rigged 6730 failing. After 3 days of not getting into the safe I figured it would have to be drilled and I actually settled on replacing it with a Liberty Colonial 30. Before the end of the year I'll likely be upgrading to the C-30 and relegating this safe to ammo duty.
I actually watched that video, but the internals of my safe are set up differently and I wasn't too confident winging it. Hence the direct replacement instead.
Our home was burglarized a year or so back and everything that was valuable and fit in a backpack was taken. Now we store all guns, jewelry, laptops, external HD's, etc in a pair of safes. The high-end security and camera systems I had installed after the robbery are likely to deter it from happening again, but I learned the hard way that you can't be too careful.

OP:
I strongly urge you to consider trolling craigslist for deals on safes. You will get a much better used safe for the same or less money than you will a new safe at a store somewhere.
I got a safe for $1100 that sells for about $3500 new. You can really tell the difference in the quality too, esp when you go to move it (;

Re: PSA: Please read if you own a Winchester Safe . . .
The bold section is why I went with the winchester safe myself, if I remember correctly is was atleast 100 pounds heavier than its same sized Cannon counterpart.
Also the Cannons even though it was better looking in my opinion also had inner hinges which only allowed the safe door to be opened about 90 degrees. Not enough for my wide body entry.
