Shooting on private property
Looking at buying a home on 2+ acres backing to 15 acre farm. Found a township noise ordinance, posted below. Given the wording, these are the noise level allowable at the property line. Property is zoned LDR (low density residential), so the 62 and 55 dbA levels would apply. So that seems like that could be a problem for shooting there.
Also, I know there are PA hunting regulations about hunting 150 yards from a safety zone, but I can't find anything prohibiting target shooting within a certain distance of a dwelling. Any thoughts on these matters? Thanks.

Ordinances aside, I would suggest that introducing yourself and making "friends" with prospective neighbors should be the first step. If they're pro 2A, or not, that could have an impact on your decision to purchase.

Make your life easy and call the local zoning board and ask them if you are allowed to discharge a firearm on your own property assuming you have the correct back stop. They like to hear that thrown in there.

Re: Shooting on private property
Can municipalities have a prohibition on firearm discharge? Wouldn't that be a pre-emption violation? I know many have had them in the past, but I thought they were rescinded for the pre-emption reason.
Here's an interesting article from a couple years ago. The municipality knew they couldn't prohibit firearm discharge. That's why many create nuisance noise ordinances.

Private property? What’s that? It is 9:40pm now with nobody home. Only the heater fan is going and I read 60dB on my noise meter.

Who the hell cares about gun noises. For pete's sake, chirping birds are going to be louder to most people who will hear them.
