Maverick 88. I've put hundreds of shells through mine without a hiccup. Everything from birdshot to buckshot and slugs.

Re: Favorite Cheap Shotgun?
Well my vote for NEF pardner. Its the only one on the list and the only cheap shotgun i own or have shot. it was assembled wrong from the factory, but once they corrected it, its been flawless

Mossberg 500, they are shotguns used for $250 is fine for a decent gun that has lots of parts and add ons available.

Re: Favorite Cheap Shotgun?
Not NIB but the older Winchester 1200 or 1300 defender is another good "sleeper"
18 1/2" 7 + 1 usually go for around $300 - $350 tops.
Spend the extra few bucks for the Mossberg 500 vs the Maverick if you go that route. It's not that the maverick is a bad gun, but the safety on the Mossberg is perfect.

Re: Favorite Cheap Shotgun?
I agree. I had one. Great functioning shotgun. Just feels cheap as the Mossberg 500 does. I have to say that my Remington 870 Tactical that I got for about the same price as one could get a Maverick feels much more solid and durable, better finish, etc.
But if I came across another Maverick on the cheap I would buy it just because I know they work."Glocks are 5 times as addictive as crack"

Another vote for the NEF Pardner. I got a used single shot for under a hundred bucks.
