Re: The best modern 7.62X51 battle rifle.
A few guys broke them. Scopes break when abused. They are glass with a fancy flip-mode squad lense doohicky in the middle. They will break, especially when bashed against rocks and through the back of Toyota Hilux's. However, they are clear, seemed to hold zero, and look cooler than ACOGs. When you walk through a random PAX terminal or chow hall, you feel extra BA. Add some fuel line to the magnification lever so it is more of a gross motor skill and it's pretty slick. I never broke mine. I also shot steel with it at 470 meters on a 14.5" gun with solid hits.
Overall, you wouldn't catch me throwing down $18 Hundo for one. Too many good 1-6×'s out there for less, that are more robust.
What's not to like? Terminator, Darth Vader, and Bruce Dickinson on juice.
The SCAR is the best modern day battle rifle. It's really no contest. Again, if it were the FN FAL, the M1A, the G3, or someting else, you'd see more first rate direct action units using them.
Very close behind, I'd say a purpose build AR by H&K, KAC, and PWS. Some of these may be more accurate, but at the sacrifice of other attributes.
I had high hopes for the Robinson XCR-M, but I digress.

Yeah...change that shit out man...
VLTOR vss-11 SCAR STOCK A shattered collar bone from a fall in 2005 has made me super picky about the form / function of stocks. The curved SCAR OEM stock hit me wrong. I needed something angled to do a closer to center chest hold. (C-Clamping like a true operator.. )Cool signature line goes here..
..or here, cause I got me a Bronze subscription and I get 2 lines...

Re: The best modern 7.62X51 battle rifle.
I wouldn't bother with anything but an M-14. Lots of parts, good form, nice.
The Germans made a version of the 7.62 NATO with a steel jacket. Fragments like a charm. If you're going to use an FMJ might as well use that one.
7.62x51 to me is too big for trouble. Recoil is too stout. 7.62x39 is almost ideal. Lots of different rounds, proven track record. Use the Yugoslav M67 round since it has better terminal ballistics than the M42 round. Either that or the 6.8 or close.

The ping could have been his wallet being mercilessly butt raped by a giant KAC.

The Chainsaw, we saw that at the Knight's Armament museum.
Did you know Reed Knight has like the largest collection of tanks in private hands. He has about 50 tanks. He's the only private person to have an M1A1 Abrams. They sold it to him without an engine. It's crazy.
