Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
I just moved to PA from another state and got my PA drivers license yesterday. I have a PA non-resident CCW permit and a resident permit from my old state. Does anyone know what kind of documentation I have to have in order to change my PA permit to a resident permit? TIA!

Just your DL should be fine unless the county you are applying has extra demands.
ETA:
I see you just changed your location to Philly.
You are going to have to jump through some hoops in Philly.
There are plenty of Philly people here that can help.FUCK BIDEN

Yup, it's Philly, which is why I'm wondering what else I might need besides my DL. God knows those people are looking for reasons not to give you a permit (or anything else, for that matter). It's too bad I can't go through another county. I got my non-resident permit in DelCo, and it was a breeze.

So long as you have been squeaky clean you shouldn't have an issue, just a longer process.

Re: Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
There is NO difference between a non-res and a resident LTCF (license to carry firearms) in PA. There also is no way to make edits, renew or update your current LTCF without revoking it.
My advice? Do nothing until it expires.
If you ask Philly to "update" it, they will most likely revoke your license and make you reapply. Philly also loves to deny people for stupid reasons.
Just my .02
Some might suggest sending a certified letter to the PPD (and the county you got the LTCF from) stating that your current address has changed and to please update their records in case they need to contact you.

Re: Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
The problem is the op is no longer a non res. Although technically I agree the ltcf is still valid this is Philly, and I could see the ltcf getting revoked at a minimum if the OP ever needs to produce it. Then who knows where it will go from there.
Not an easy situation......unfortunately.FUCK BIDEN

Re: Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
That's exactly my concern. Given the potential penalties for doing it wrong, I'm prepared to go through whatever process is necessary to make sure that I am legal. I just want to be as prepared as possible before I walk into that special little corner of Hell that they call the Philadelphia Municipal Services Building...

Re: Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
Hmmm... you are right! I just looked at my permit and it doesn't say non-resident. I guess I just have to do an address change. Does anyone know what is involved in doing that? Which brings me back to my original question about what documentation I might need besides my PA DL.
UPDATE: I just looked at the website and found what looks likely to be involved: OMG!!! I LOVE PHL government...Last edited by 01HDFXD; February 4th, 2015 at 12:33 PM.

Re: Convert PA Non-Resident CCW to Resident?
I just called the PHL Police Department Gun Unit and got an automated message that all I have to do is go there with my permit and PA DL. They will update the address in the database. The message said that I do not need to have the address updated on the permit, but if I want to do that, I should bring $25. for a replacement permit. Wow, not nearly as horrible as I expected. Thanks for your input, guys.
If the reality turns out to be different from what the phone message says, I will let you know.Vic
